Rugby League in the 1920s was dominated by South Sydney.  North Sydney produced their only premiership winning teams; and St George entered the competition.

The decade saw the rise of prolific try scorers Cec Blinkhorn and Harold Horder; while other stars included Duncan Thompson, Jim Craig and George Treweeke.
