NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE UPDATE

September 26, 2018

Just three rounds into the National Football League season, and it looks like being a tight competition.  Just three teams remain undefeated; the Miami Dolphins, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Los Angeles Rams.

Miami started with a tough 27-20 win over the Tennessee Titans, before holding off the New York Jets 20-12.  The Dolphins scored two touchdowns in the final quarter in their 28-20 win over the Oakland Raiders, and are learning quickly how to win the tight games.

Kansas City started with a 38-28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, and followed up with a 42-37 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, after leading 21-0 at the first break.  A 38-27 win over the San Francisco 49ers sees the Chiefs at the top of their division, but their reliance on attack may hurt them later in the season if they have to try to grind out wins.

The Los Angeles Rams have continued their good form, which saw them top their division in 2017.  The Rams started the season with a comfortable 33-13 win over Oakland, and have since smashed the Arizona Cardinals 34-0, before beating cross town rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers by 35-23.

Defending champions Philadelphia Eagles beat the Atlanta Falcons 18-12 in the opening game of the season, before going down 27-21 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Eagles bounced back to beat the Indianapolis Colts 20-16 in a hard fought victory.

Aaron Rodgers threw a scare into the Green Bay Packers camp in the opening round when he went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.  Rodgers returned to the field to lead the Packers to a 24-23 win over the Chicago Bears, after earlier being down 20-0.  The Packers have since played a 29-29 draw with Minnesota, but went down 31-17 to the Washington Redskins in week three.

2017 AFC Champions, the New England Patriots started their campaign with a 27-20 win over the Houston Texans. The Patriots then went down 31-20 to Jacksonville, and 26-10 to the Detroit Lions.  New England will attempt to get their season back on track when they face the unbeaten Miami Dolphins on Sunday (local time).
