MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL UPDATE

Six teams have now qualified for the post-season.  The Houston Astros are the latest team to clinch a divisional title, recording their 100^th win of the season to top the American League West Division.  The Astros are joined by other divisional champions, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Cleveland Indians; while the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics have secured wild card berths.

The last two divisional champions remain very much up for grabs.  In the central division of the National League, the Chicago Cubs hold a slender lead over the Milwaukee Brewers.  The national League’s west division is even close, with the Los Angeles Dodgers just ahead of the Colorado Rockies.  All will be revealed by the end of the week, with the wild card games scheduled for next Tuesday, October 2^nd.
