About The Author

Matthew Geddes was born in Parramatta, Australia in 1970.  Raised in the western suburbs of Sydney, he became interested in sport at a young age; and especially embraced the history of sport, and the need to keep it alive for future generations.

After majoring in history at university; Matthew worked in the employment and social services industry with Mission Australia.  He assisted hundreds of people into education and employment, and led a team that secured positive outcomes for people with mental health issues, homelessness, and addiction.  Matthew specialised in youth unemployment and Aboriginal unemployment, and tailored programmes to increase sustainable employment for both cohorts.

During his time in this field, Matthew had the privilege to work outside of Sydney in Lithgow, Mudgee, Goulburn and surrounding areas.  In 2013, his love of the country life saw Matthew move to Crookwell.  He started Parallel Partners in 2014 to combine his love of history and sport.

In 2016, Matthew partnered with Crookwell High School to identify a student who wished to study animal science under the Parallel Partners sponsored Deeley Project. It was the start of an annual grant that is provided to a student who wishes to return to rural Australia upon completion of their studies.

Also in 2016, Matthew began two segments talking about sport on 2GN.  He can be heard discussing the big issues in sport with John Banks on Thursday afternoons; while every Friday morning, Matthew and breakfast host Craig Prichard talk about all the weekly news in sport.

Though a keen follower of many sports, Matthew's passion remains following the Manly Sea Eagles.  He also enjoys music, reading, and spending time with his two young children.
