There has been talk at Redfern on who should play fullback for the last couple of seasons; Greg Inglis or Alex Johnston.  The question may be answered with a third option following the signing of exciting rookie Corey Allan from Brisbane.  Allan became the first player to be picked for the PM XIII squad against Papua New Guinea without playing an NRL first grade match, and has a familiar face at Redfern in new coach Wayne Bennett.

Inglis and Johnston will still provide plenty of spark in the backline, as will Cody Walker, Dane Gagai, Adam Reynolds, and Robert Jennings, who finished 2018 with 19 tries.  Winger Campbell Graham had a great rookie season, and can only get better.

The forward pack will again revolve around the Burgess Boys, Sam, George, and Thomas.  Veteran captain John Sutton is going around for yet another season, while Damien Cook has quickly established himself as one of the best hookers in the game.  Souths will miss Angus Crichton, who has joined arch rivals Sydney Roosters.
