ALEXANDER ZVEREV WINS ATP FINALS TOURNAMENT

November 19, 2018

Germany’s Alexander Zverev has proven he deserves to be included in tennis’s elite, after defeating top seed and world number one, Novak Djokovic, 6-4, 6-3 in the final of the ATP Finals.  The last event of the ATP Tour for 2018 saw the withdrawal of Rafael Nadal due to injury, which gave Djokovic the top ranking.  Zverev was forced to defeat Roger Federer in the semi-finals before his clash with Djokovic.

The Serbian superstar, who has had a dream run since returning from injury, defeated fourth seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa 6-2, 6-2 in the other semi-final.  Djokovic had beaten Zverev earlier in the tournament.  Roger Federer had topped his group ahead of Kevin Anderson, despite an early loss to Kei Nishikori.
