ALEX DE MINAUR FALLS JUST SHORT AT NEXT GEN FINALS

November 11, 2018

Promising Australian teenager, Alex De Minaur has gone down to Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the ATP Next Generation Finals.  Open to the top ranked players under the age of 21, De Minaur won the first set, but lost the third and fourth sets in a tie break.

Tsitsipas was the top seeded player in the tournament, following the withdrawal of Germany’s Alexander Zverev, who was scheduled to play in the ATP Finals tournament.  He went through the group stage undefeated, and beat Andrey Rublev in five sets in a tough semi-final.  De Minaur also went through the group stage without tasting defeat, and beat Spain’s Jaune Munar in five sets in the second semi-final.  De Minaur defeated American Taylor Fritz, and Liam Caruana of Italy in the group stage.
