THIS WEEK IN WRESTLING

November 28, 2018

The Smackdown Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, returned to television this week after two weeks out with a facial injury.  Becky immediately crossed paths with Charlotte Flair and set up a tables, ladders and chairs match at the TLC event on December 16th.  Later in the night, Asuka won a battle royal to be added to the title match in what is now a triple threat.

Former WWE Champion AJ Styles also returned to Smackdown, and issued a challenge to Daniel Bryan, who defeated Styles to win the title two weeks ago.  Bryan was not on the show, but Styles has an automatic rematch clause, and the match will take place at TLC.

WWE celebrated Jeff Hardy’s twenty years as a professional wrestler, recapping some of the highlights of his career.  Samoa Joe interrupted proceedings, leading to a possible match at TLC.

On Raw, Seth Rollins re-introduced the open challenge for his Intercontinental Title.  It was answered by Dolph Ziggler, and the two continued their rivalry which stretched over the last few months.  Perhaps the two best in the ring on Raw right now, they delivered another high caliber match, with Rollins emerging victorious.

Braun Strowman cut a promo from his hospital bed, where he is about to undergo elbow surgery.  Baron Corbin made a stipulation that if Strowman was unable to compete at TLC, Corbin would win their match by forfeit, thus becoming the permanent General Manager of Raw.

In some good news, Matt Hardy announced on Twitter that he has not retired, and plans to return to the WWE after overcoming his current injuries.  Hardy’s former tag team partner, Bray Wyatt, returned to the ring at the Starrcade event to face Baron Corbin, but was not on Raw or Smackdown.
