Daniel Bryan has finally returned to the top of the mountain. This week on Smackdown, Daniel Bryan defeated AJ Styles to win the World Title he was forced to relinquish in 2014, due to career threatening injury. Bryan took advantage of a fallen referee to deliver a low blow before gaining the pinfall victory. After the match, Bryan repeatedly attacked Styles, completed his heel transformation, which had been on the cards for some weeks. Bryan will now face Brock Lesnar in the Champion Vs Champion match at Survivor Series.
One Champion Vs Champion match that will not be happening is Ronda Rousey against Becky Lynch. Lynch led the Smackdown women to invade Raw this week, but copped a stray hit from Nia Jax, and finished with a broken nose, black eye, and blood all over her face. Lynch has nominated former best friend, and chief rival, Charlotte, to take on Rousey at Survivor Series.
Braun Strowman vowed to focus on helping Team Raw at Survivor Series, but only after Stephanie McMahon promised him a match against Baron Corbin, and another Universal Title opportunity against Brock Lesnar. By the end of the night, Strowman had been joined on Team Raw by Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Finn Balor.
On Smackdown, Jeff Hardy was named as Daniel Bryan’s replacement on Team Smackdown. The Miz also wanted Rey Mysterio off the team, but the chance was lost when Mysterio won their impromptu match. Afterwards, Randy Orton delivered an RKO to The Miz.
Survivor Series will also see a match between Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and the US Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. The Authors of Pain will clash with Sheamus and Cesaro, and traditional five on five women’s and tag team matches. Buddy Murphy will also defend his Cruiserweight Title against Mustafa Ali.
