Two goals from Craig Goodwin have secured the FFA Cup for Adelaide for the second time. The Reds defeated Sydney FC 2-1 to deny the harbour city team back to back titles. The scoreline reversed the result of the 2017 final which saw Sydney win 2-1 in extra time.
Less than two weeks ago, Adelaide and Sydney played a 1-1 draw in the opening round of the A-League season. On this occasion, Goodwin opened the scoring in the 25th minute, but Sydney levelled three minutes later, courtesy of a penalty from Adam le Fondre.
Craig Goodwin added his second goal in the 74th minute, and Adelaide hung on to win the FFA Cup for the first time since 2014. Goodwin was named the Man of the Match, and won the Mark Viduka Medal.
