The Boston Red Sox will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2018 World Series after both teams overcame strong opponents in their respective Championship Series. The Red Sox were fortunate to win game four of their series against the Houston Astros after fan interference cost the Astros dearly. Boston went on to win game four 8-6. Mookie Betts, JD Martinez, and Andrew Benintendi each scored two runs in the win. Boston secured their place in the World Series with a 4-1 win in game five. The sixth inning was crucial for the Red Sox. They scored three runs to take a 4-0 lead, and restricted the Astros to just one run in the seventh.
After being tied at 2-2 after four games, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers continued to provide heart stopping entertainment for their fans. In game five, the teams were tied at 1-1 after five innings, and thoughts of their epic 13 innings match in game four were fresh in mind. However, the Dodgers skipped away to a 5-2 win to take the series lead.
Milwaukee fought back in game six, and scored four runs in the first innings to take the early lead. It was too much for the Dodgers to overcome, and the series was again tied after the Brewers ran out 7-2 winners. Lorenzo Cain and Jesus Aguilar each scored two runs for Milwaukee.
In game seven, it was Milwaukee who took the early lead, but two second inning runs had the Dodgers back in front. Three further runs in the sixth from Los Angeles were the only other scores, as the Dodgers wrapped up their World Series spot with a 5-1 victory.
The first game of the World Series will be played in Boston on Tuesday evening, local time.
