QLD V TAS

The first semi-final of the JLT One Day series saw Queensland take on Tasmania.  Tasmania won the toss and sent Queensland into bat.  Sam Heazlett, Charlie Hemphrey, and Joe Burns all made solid starts, but it was Mark Steketee who top scored with 30, as Queensland were bowled out for 177 in the 45th over.  The bowlers shared the wickets, with Gurinder Singh, Jackson Bird, Tom Rogers, Clive Rose, and Gabe Bell taking two each.

In reply, Tasmania lost early wickets, and were at 4/52 when Simon Milenko joined George Bailey at the crease.  Both players went on to make unbeaten half centuries, as Tasmania reeled in the total without further loss in the 38th over.  Milenko finished 57 not out from 68 balls, while Bailey made an unbeaten 70.

WA V VIC

October 7th, 2018 in St Kilda

The second semi-final saw the unbeaten Western Australia take on Victoria.  The home side won the toss, and elected to bat.  They were reeling at 2/10, before Marcus Harris and Peter Handscomb came together.  Harris blasted 73 from 49 balls, while Handscomb scored 80, as Victoria reached 332.  Nic Maddinson chipped in with 58.  Nathan Coulter-Nile took three wickets for WA.

Josh Philippe and Josh Inglis put on an opening stand of 40 for Western Australia.  Inglis finished on 63 from 68 balls.  D’Arcy Short scored a quick fire 44, but the middle order failed to fire.  Western Australia were all out for 269 in the 46th over.  Nic Maddinson took 4/28 for Victoria.

 

TAS V VIC

The final of the JLT One Day Series was played between Tasmania and Victoria.  The home side won the toss and elected to bat.  Marcus Harris and Cameron White put on an opening stand of 88 before Harris was dismissed for 45.  White went on to make 88, and received good support from Peter Handsomb, who scored 49 from 45 deliveries.  Victoria were all out for 274 on the final ball of the innings.  Gurinder Sandhu was the pick of the Tasmanian bowlers, taking an impressive 7-56, including a hat trick.

Ben McDermott made 45, and Alex Doolan scored a patient 46, but the rest of the Tasmanian batting line up crumbled to be all out for 164 in the 41st over.  Jackson Coleman, Fawad Ahmed, Chris Tremain, and Andrew Fekete each took two wickets for Victoria, who claimed the trophy with a 110 run victory.
