THIS WEEK IN BASEBALL, OCT 3

We are at the business end of the baseball season, with the first wild card game already completed.  The Colorado Rockies have advanced after a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs.  The Rockies will now battle the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Divisional Series.  The Atlanta Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on the other side of the NLDS draw.

The second wild card game will be played tomorrow morning (Sydney time) between the Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees.  A battle with the red hot Boston Red Sox awaits the winner.  The other bout in the American League Division Series sees the Houston Astros up against the Cleveland Indians.
