JAPAN OPEN UPDATE

Top seed Marin Cilic was a shock first round loser at the Japan Open.  Cilic was defeated in three sets by Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.  South Africa’s Kevin Anderson is now the top ranked player in the tournament, having beaten Australia’s Matt Ebden in three sets in their opening round clash.  There have been wins for Stan Warwinka, Nick Kyrgios, Kei Nishikori, Alex De Minaur, Richard Gasquet, and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the opening round of the competition.
