It took the experience of Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes to rescue Australia in their opening T20 clash against New Zealand in Sydney. Chasing 163 for victory, Australia were in deep trouble at 4/45.
Lanning, playing her first international in more than eighteen months after recovering from injury, blasted 56 from 44 balls, while Haynes scored an unbeaten 69.
It was the Australian women's biggest ever successful run chase. Ashleigh Gardner was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2/22.
