VIC V WA

Victoria batted first and were struggling at 3/46.  Peter Handscomb scored 57, and Sebastian Gotch chipped in with 34, as Victoria were bowled out for 200 in the 46th over.  Andrew Tye and Usman Qadir each took three wickets for Western Australia.

Josh Philippe and Josh Inglis got the visitors off to a great start; compiling an opening stand of 90, before Inglis went for 42.  Philippe made 65, and was assisted by a 47 not out from Marcus Stoinis, as Western Australia reached their target in the 29th over, with six wickets in hand.

September 27, 2018 in Bankstown

Jake Weatherald scored 79, and Jake Lehmann notched 58 not out as South Australia made 7/236 from their fifty overs.  Callum Ferguson chipped in with 43.

In reply, opener Ben McDermott continued his good form with an unbeaten 102 from 120 balls to set up the win for Tasmania.  Jordan Silk made 71 as Tasmania claimed victory in the 49th over, for the loss of seven wickets.

 

WA V QLD

This match will forever be remembered for a stunning innings from D’Arcy Short.  Western Australia batted first, and were at 2/23 before Short not only steadied the innings, but compiled a new Australian record for highest score in a one day game at state level.  Short finished with a staggering 257 from just 148 deliveries, as Western Australia made 387.

Queensland started well in their chase, with opener Sam Heazlett making 107 from 102 balls.  Chris Lynn scored 58, and Charlie Hemphrey chimed in with 46; but the tail crumbled, and Queensland were all out for 271 in the 43rd over.  Andrew Tye finished the match with the impressive bowling figures of 6/46.

 

All teams have now played four matches, and Western Australia is on top on 19 points.  The undefeated Western Australia sits ahead of Tasmania on 13; followed by Victoria on nine points.  Queensland, South Australia, and New South Wales are all on five points; with just one win each from their opening four matches.
